30 Dec BEST OF 2020 : Custom Framing
We’re at the end of 2020 and we are reflecting back on the past year. It was tough to choose since we did so many amazing framing projects this year but we’ve narrowed it down to our TOP 5 favorite framing projects.
Read on to find out why we loved these pieces so much…
Anyone who knows us knows we LOVE all things Halloween, horror, and spooky fun. We picked this “They Live” piece for our number 5 spot because of how fun it was to make this hand-painted drippy mat and how much we love how the final piece came out.
This Leopard piece was a crowd favorite at the shop because of its sophisticated fun vibe. We float mounted the artwork on a powder blue mat, and framed it all up in a hammered rose gold frame. While not the most complicated piece we’ve done, we loved the final presentation so much we put it at number 4.
Coming in at number 3 on our Top 5 is this “Industrial Faces” frame up. We had the print enlarged such that we could crop it down and use the excess border as part of the matting design. This piece also features one of our favorite frame profiles of the year: the Stem profile, a steeped sloped beveled frame in contemporary finishes (glossy black for this piece).
At number 2 on our count down is one of the most creative pieces we did all year. The designer here wanted to make these British Queens into bold, unique display, and had the idea of creating a truly custom stacked presentation. What we did was float mounted the Queens on a buff mat, framed in a chevron frame, sealed with glass. We then mounted that presentation over a lilac mat and put it all together in a carved scalloped frame. Going bold offers big rewards!
We have arrived at number 1 on our list and this piece was one we all fell in love with. Just immaculately designed and produced, we can’t get enough of how this framing project came out. We took this Die Zieberflöte (the Magic Flute) print and float mounted it over a subtly-shimmery blue silk mat. We then did a raise for a little added depth between the base and top mat, and housed it with this beautiful black and silver ornate frame that tied the whole thing together.
